Matthew C. Brown is a Co-Founder and CEO of CAIS and is responsible for overall firm strategy, management and business development. Additionally, Mr. Brown is a Managing Principal of CAIS Capital LLC, a FINRA registered broker dealer. Mr. Brown has over 21 years of experience in financial services with a focus on global marketing and distribution of alternative investment funds. Over the course of his career, Mr. Brown has built and managed investment firms and platforms and has represented industry leading investment managers.

CAIS, founded in 2009, is a New York-based financial technology company providing an alternative investment platform to the global wealth management industry. The CAIS end-to-end solution offers improved access and independent oversight to a diversified menu of top-tier alternative investment funds coupled with portfolio management tools, integrated reporting and streamlined execution. The CAIS proprietary solution empowers registered investment advisors, broker-dealers, private banks and other financial intermediaries to compete for clients while delivering a robust level of service. As a dedicated service provider, CAIS avoids key conflicts of interest by neither operating a wealth management business nor trading internal funds.

Prior to forming CAIS, Mr. Brown was the Managing Principal and Founder of Brownstone Advisors. Launched in 2001, Brownstone Advisors managed and distributed alternative investment products, including hedge funds and fund of funds. Additionally, the firm advised third party asset management firms on global distribution strategies. Between 2005 and 2008, Brownstone Advisors merged its business into FGG and launched the Antara alternative investment platform, a separate business unit that provided global wealth advisors, private banks and other investors with access to a new menu of “best-in-class” hedge fund managers.

Prior to forming Brownstone, Mr. Brown was a Managing Principal and Founder of Brown Simpson Asset Management (BSAM). Founded in 1995, BSAM managed alternative investment funds focusing on technology and biotechnology companies. In addition to his management responsibilities, Mr. Brown designed and implemented the firm’s global marketing and distribution strategy.

Mr. Brown began his career in 1991 as a Financial Consultant with Shearson Lehman Brothers and worked both in Los Angeles and San Francisco. While at Shearson Lehman Brothers, Mr. Brown focused on new business development and portfolio management for private clients until his departure in 1995 to start BSAM.

Mr. Brown is a member of Endeavor’s Global Board of Directors and was a former board member of Endeavor Turkey and Endeavor South Africa. Mr. Brown is a member of the U.S. Advisory Committee for the Global Leadership Foundation, founded by former President of South Africa F.W. de Klerk. Mr. Brown received his Bachelor of Arts from St. Mary’s College in San Francisco in 1991. Mr. Brown holds FINRA Series 24, 7 and 63 licenses.
