After winning a Fulbright scholarship for outstanding high school performance, Rizzo left Brazil to study mechanical engineering at Iowa State University. Rizzo then returned to Brazil to work for Embraco, a refrigeration compressor manufacturer — where he learned about “machine vision technology” which improves manufacturing processes.
His own venture, Pollux, integrates full machine vision solutions. The company’s technology allows for 100% automatic visual inspection of production, rejecting defective products from a production line, and dramatically improving high-speed processes and processes that involve complex, high precision components. Pollux is a leader in its business in Brazil and Mexico, meeting visual inspection needs of large corporations in all types of industries. Rizzo was named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2004.
Endeavor and Pollux
In addition to the eMBA and G-Lab programs, which provided assistance with business strategy and customer analysis, Rizzo has received introductions to clients in various industries and investors. He has also received support on new revenue lines and legal issues.
He has demonstrated commitment by serving as an ISP panelist.
