In 1997, Mexican native Tanya Moss founded a sophisticated and timeless jewelry line of her same name. While studying graphic design in Mexico City, Tanya spent a semester abroad at Southern Illinois University where she took classes in the University’s top-tier jewelry program. While obtaining her undergraduate degree, Tanya wrote a thesis about building and branding a jewelry company, a vision to which she returned several years later.
After meeting her husband, Eduardo Stolkin, a man with a strong background in finance who has an MBA from Columbia Business School, the two embarked on a journey to balance his penchant for numbers and strategy with her aesthetic eye. They created Tanya Moss, a jewelry line to make women feel beautiful, sophisticated, and special. The company sells silver and gold pieces, as well as accessories. It combines grounded references to Mexican culture with the flirty effervescence of the well-recognized butterfly motif, a symbol included in every collection.
The collection soon flourished, but disaster struck when Hurricane Wilma struck in 2005, destroying many of the stores. Tanya and Eduardo returned to Mexico City to rebuild their business, and have since opened a significant amount of stores. It has since been featured in couture fashion magazines like Vogue.
Tanya Moss has positioned itself as an industry leader that sets, rather than follows, trends.
